The big news on our website for this spring, summer, and fall: we are going pretty much daily with the free picks until August, when we will hopefully transition to a combination of weekly paid football picks with occasional mid-week free picks. Gotta start trying to make a decent living out of this sometime, and we think that time is the coming NFL season. We'll be starting with the NFL pre-season: a weekly package of at least 3 sides and/or totals available Fridays at 5 PM for $5.50 Cdn. And if all goes well, by then Ontario will have single-game wagering. We will also be grading our picks in a new way, starting immediately. We'll use the pinnaclesports line, unless the play is at the Ontario Casinos. We won't do as much with Ontario Proline, which has a bigger house edge. And due to time constraints, we'll have to leave the other provincial lotos to our followers' own discretion, and hope you can find enough decent numbers therein. In terms of sports covered, we go right into hockey and we'll pick up MLB (for the first time), and NBA playoffs and CFL once again. That will cover everything that the Ontario casinos cover, and more. The idea is to position ourselves as the experts on ON CAS offerings. When they eventually go to single-game betting, we'll be your goto guys when the big splash hits. Big ups to Joe Comartin. Joe is our Member of Parliament for Windsor and Tecumseh in Ontario. He has gotten a proposed bill to Canadian Parliament. Its aim is to remove the outdated federal legislation now in place outlawing single-game sports betting. It would turn control over to the individual provinces who could then offer it as they see fit. It now must pass the Senate, perhaps as early as June. Looks like Ontario casinos would have -120 (1.83) pricing. If they were wise (like myself and Danimal), it would be -108. If you build it (properly), they will come. We'll be using Twitter to post all the free picks. We'll keep to the same basic sked for releasing: weeknites at 5 and Sat-Sun around noon. Twitter will enable rough time-stamping and provide a wider reach on phone or computer. Of course we'll get everything posted on the site eventually, but Twitter will be the go-to bird of record. The big thing will be to get every play out with at least our normal hour of lead time. With the increased flexibility in following the action and deciding on moves, we'll need increased flexibility from you, our followers. I'd suggest checking Twitter at 5, 6:30, 7:45, and 9:30 on a typical weeknite. Maybe every hour and a half on Sat-Sun, starting at noon. On the Twitter site you have access to all tweets, or just read the most recent 4 at top right of the OCSH home page. And I've decided to post the plays in American-style odds in the View from Vegas daily thread instead of my Covers space, for time stamping. Watch for the paid picks in August, releasing Fridays at 5 PM for football. The picks will consist of sides and totals for the weekend slate of games. There will be at least 3 sides and/or totals. No guarantees of any of these conditions: at least 1 side; at least 1 total; at least 1 NFL pick; at least 1 CFL pick. They will cost a nominal fee of $5.50/week. In fact, while we're on the topic, there are no guarantees about much of anything in life, save maybe death and taxes. And we look on the concept of "100,000 STAR LOCK!!!" with a chuckle. But we do guarantee these selections will be well researched and thoughtfully considered with an eye to giving the bettor the most valuable kind of wagering leverage available on any particular sports weekend. We will concentrate on adapting to the offerings of Caesars Windsor and Casino Niagara.
